This gorgeous quilt top is a reproduction of one that hangs in the Quilt Museum in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Our 'replica' is accomplished in 100% cotton. Everything about this quilt is traditional Old Order Amish, the colors, pattern, even the treadle sewing machine piecing. The rich jewel-tone solid colors are given 'center stage' by the soft, heathery beige inset triangles. The batting is black 80/20 Hobbs cotton. The backing is black 90" wide wholecloth, so no seams to wear or separate in an 80/20 cotton blend. Since a quilt should be 'all about the quilting', we loaded this one with intricate feather motifs. The quilting was accomplished by the Amish women in our community in December 2008. The quilting is dense with 496 yards of beautiful hand quilting. The feather circle stencil used in the large triangle insets was handmade to fit this space, and a scrolling feather was used in the borders.
